Madden NFL 2004 for Gameboy Advance is a solid sequel to Madden NFL 2005, which is already on the market. The gameplay has remained the same, and the new features provide an even better experience. While the NFL still needs to work on their AI, the execution in the game is still good.
However, this issue is made somewhat less frustrating by the fact that Madden football is still very much a game of football; general expectations for the game are unchanged. Madden NFL 2004 can be exceptionally fun even when the AI, though far from perfect, can be frustrating at times. The gameplay is still fun to play, as is the commitment and dedication to detail that characterizes this series; after all, fans of the real thing were the driving force behind the creation of the game.
As with last year's game, Madden NFL 2004 for Gameboy Advance features many of the best teams of the era. With the addition of a new owner's mode, the roster has been expanded to include more than 80 teams. Every team has a balanced team, and all of the teams are still fully functional. The best teams are in the game are the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks. The average team is still well represented, but many of the weaker teams are missing.
The AI issues are a sore spot in many football fans' mouths, and Madden NFL 2005 addressed many of the complaints by creating a new owner's mode. The goal of the mode is to create a franchise that can work in real life. As your team's owner, you can set the hiring and firing of coaches, scout and research players, trade draft picks, sign players, and even make calls during games. The owner can also set the salary cap and set up separate IR and injured lists. This is an excellent addition to the franchise, and although the interface isn't intuitive, it's easy to understand and use.
If you are the type of person that will have to have the full experience, Madden NFL 2004 has it. The gameplay is solid and has aged very well, and the overall presentation is excellent. The franchise mode is fun, and most importantly, the AI is quite good. I've played this year's version several times, and each time I've been impressed with the AI. For fans of the franchise mode, the game is worth playing.
The Madden NFL 12 and Madden NFL 07 games are the best football game for Gameboy Advance. There are several other great football games for Gameboy Advance to play, such as EA Sports NFL Street and EA Sports NBA Jam. Don't forget to check out our guide for the top Football games for Gameboy Advance.
When playing a game, the camera is mostly fixed. This makes the game more challenging, but also makes the game less fun. In real-life there are many small movements that are not possible within the confines of the system. If you are hit, or catch the ball, you are required to scramble for yards. Players can bob and weave, and make plays. It's a little odd playing Madden in a gamecube emulator, but it's not impossible. The problem is that it's not a good quality emulation. Other games have worse emulation, but at least they don't require the use of the Gameboy's accelerometer. The game doesn't work right if the player moves the Gameboy at all during gameplay. 827ec27edc
